The Lord Mayor of Liverpool is the first citizen and chosen representative of the city, acting as a focal point for the community as well as promoting the city, forging national and international links.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool is always a serving Councillor, elected by the full council at its Annual General Meeting held each May, and stands for one year in office.
The current Lord Mayor, for 2018-2019, is Councillor Christine Banks.
Each year the Lord Mayor of Liverpool raises money to be distributed to local charities or charities with a Liverpool connection. Liverpool's Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal has helped raise over £1 million for local good causes in recent years.
The Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal 2018-2019 is raising funds for The Michael Causer Foundation, The Merchant Navy Association and Everton in the Community.
